Café Supervisor – Lead a Social Enterprise Café with Purpose

The Close Collective Café is more than just a place to grab great food and coffee. It's a community-focused, purpose-led café in central Wodonga where young people learn, grow, and gain real-world experience. Backed by Junction Support Services, the café supports youth programs that help young people build life skills, develop confidence, and create employment pathways.
We're looking for a Café Supervisor to manage the day-to-day operations of the café while playing a key role in mentoring and supporting young people participating in our programs. This is a full-time leadership position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, but also values inclusion, empowerment, and impact.
About the Role:
This is more than a standard hospitality role. Alongside overseeing the café's operations, you'll help create a positive, inclusive learning space for young people participating in programs like:
* The Orchard Program – 10-week hospitality work experience for young people to build skills
* Pay It Forward – a meal donation initiative supporting young people in need
You'll work closely with the Social Enterprise & Youth Pathways team to ensure the café operates smoothly while delivering strong community outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise daily operations of the café, including front of house, kitchen, and catering
* Mentor and support young people as they build skills and confidence
* Manage rosters, training, recruitment, and staff performance
* Coordinate catering orders and maintain service standards
* Monitor budgets, supplier relationships, and procurement processes
* Maintain compliance with health, safety, and food handling standards
* Oversee administrative systems, emails, ordering, and documentation
What We're Looking For:
* Minimum two years' experience in hospitality management or supervision
* Qualifications and/or experience in food and beverage service
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Experience mentoring or supporting others in a learning or work environment
* Understanding of inclusive and strengths-based support for young people
* Confidence managing daily operations, financial procedures, and team coordination
