RANGER (Senior)
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Ranger to lead on-country operations and support the delivery of high-quality land management, cultural site protection, and environmental conservation activities. The Senior Ranger plays a key leadership role, working closely with Traditional Owners, community members, and partner organisations to ensure holistic, culturally informed management of country.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor ranger teams in daily field operations.
* Plan, coordinate, and deliver annual work programs, including:
o cultural heritage site management
o biodiversity monitoring and research surveys
o land and sea country maintenance
* Work collaboratively with Traditional Owners and Elders to ensure cultural protocols are followed.
* Ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and team members receive appropriate training.
* Maintain equipment and manage operational resources.
* Assist with data collection, reporting, and documentation.
* Represent the ranger team in meetings, community events, and external partnerships.
SELECTION CRITERIA
* Demonstrated experience in land management, conservation, or ranger operations.
* Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
* Ability to work respectfully with Traditional Owners, Elders, and community members.
* Knowledge of local ecosystems, cultural landscapes, and management practices.
* Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Competency in field-based data collection and use of digital tools.
* Ability to work outdoors in remote or challenging environments.
* Experience in cultural heritage management.
* Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
Applicants' qualifications
* Conservation and Land management (Cert III-IV)
* GPS, drones, and digital monitoring tools
* CASA Remote Pilot License (RePL)
This is a full-time position based in Broome. Competitive remuneration is provided commensurate with experience.
