Based in Dalby, our client is an established agricultural enterprise with cattle as their core business. They have been in operation for over 50 years and have gone through significant expansion where they are now a major supplier of grain fed cattle to the region.
About the role:
This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on Senior Accountant to lead all aspects of the finance function, from involvement with transactional processes through to strategic financial leadership. Given the lean structure of the business, you will be comfortable performing a wide range of tasks, including working with your accounting team on the fundamentals, cash flow management, reporting of all variables right through to advising Directors on key financial decisions. Your responsibilities will include:
* Developing and executing financial plans to support growth targets;
* Leading all budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling;
* Overseeing reporting including P&L, balance sheets and cash flow statements;
* Identifying areas of opportunity, improvement and risk;
* Ensuring compliance with regulations and improving processes for efficiency; and
* Leading and mentoring the finance team as well as liaising with auditors, external advisors and key stakeholders.
About you:
To be successful in the role, you will be CA or CPA qualified with significant experience in commercial accounting. We would also consider an applicant with an extensive experience in public accounting who is looking to transition to management accounting. A background or interest in the livestock sector is highly regarded, as the role involves monitoring industry trends such as cattle prices and, where appropriate, advising Directors on business performance, profitability and growth opportunities.
