Senior Mental Health Leader
The position of Chief Psychiatrist is a high-profile opportunity to lead and influence mental health services across South Australia.
This role involves shaping policy, standards, and service delivery in partnership with stakeholders. It promotes continuous improvement in mental health service delivery, monitors standards of care, and safeguards the rights of consumers and carers.
The successful candidate will oversee the treatment of voluntary and involuntary patients, the use of restrictive practices, and the administration of mental health legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide high-level advice on mental health issues
* Issue standards for patient care and inspect public and private mental health facilities
* Lead multidisciplinary teams across safety and quality, policy and legislation, and suicide prevention
The ideal candidate will possess leadership skills, extensive knowledge of contemporary mental health issues, and proven expertise in policy development, service improvement, and stakeholder engagement.
Requirements:
* Fellowship or eligibility for Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
* Ability to lead at a senior level in complex, multidisciplinary environments
* Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills combined with clinical credibility and a collaborative leadership style
