Position Information
Kempsey High School (KHS) is built on the lands of the Dunghutti people and has an enrolment of 570 students including 46% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.
It is a comprehensive high school (7-12), engaged in several initiatives to support students from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds and for students from low socio-economic status communities. Kempsey High School became a Connected Communities High School in 2021.
The school has an ICSEA (Index of Community Socio-Economic Advantage) of 854 and a FOEI (Family Occupation and Education Index) of 151.
Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach Technology Mandatory (ITX) (Years 7-8), Industrial Technology Metal (ITM) and Industrial Technology Timber (ITW).
* Capacity to implement effective classroom management strategies and deliver differentiated teaching programs support student growth and maintain high expectations for all students.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the ability to work collaboratively across the school community.
* Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural, wellbeing and learning needs of students from low socio-economic backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
