Advocacy for Disability Access and Inclusion (ADAI) is a proud South Australian organisation that has delivered free, independent advocacy services to people of all ages living with disability for over forty years.
We provide advocacy support across Adelaide and regional South Australia through our offices in Mount Gambier, Port Augusta and Berri, along with regular outreach clinics in locations such as Kangaroo Island, Port Lincoln and the Yorke Peninsula.
Our work includes supporting people with disability to build knowledge, skills, capability and confidence to know their rights and have their voice heard. We work with individuals and organisations to increase the capacity to self-advocate.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Facilitator to join our team in Mount Gambier. Reporting to the Team Leader, this role is responsible for delivering efficient and effective advocacy services, including a range of administrative and reporting tasks required under our funding agreements and ADAI's policies and procedures. The ADAI Regional Capacity Building & Peer Support Program aims to increase individuals' capacity to self-advocate, build confidence and engage more independently with community and decision making.
In this position you will be responsible for:
* Identifying self-advocacy paths for individual consumers and supporting them along those paths.
* Contributing to the development of self-advocacy tools, education sessions and workshops.
* Communicating with a diverse range of stakeholders to provide information and support to workers and agencies working with people with disabilities and who seek services on behalf of their consumers.
* Building strong stakeholder relationships in local and regional communities.
* Contributing to reporting requirements that meet the governance and contractual requirements of the organisation.
* Participating in performance development and training, utilising networks, and attending professional development as required. Maintaining industry standards and legislative obligations.
To be successful in this role you must have:
* Local knowledge of services and resources relevant to people with a disability.
* Experience building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with community organisations.
* Experience in developing and providing workshops
* Experience in coordinating community events and activities.
* Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and other South Australian community services sector programs.
Employment is subject to a satisfactory National Coordinated Criminal History/Police check and Working with Children Check and you must have a current Child Safe Environments Certificate and a current Australian issued Drivers Licence (equivalent to a minimum class C South Australian Licence).
