About the Role
Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd is looking for experienced and motivated Diesel Fitters to join our Mackay team. The role is permanent and offers a lifestyle‐friendly 7/7 roster with access to both our Commercial Avenue and Hastings Park workshop operations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver reliable maintenance and repairs – perform rebuilds, servicing, and repairs on Caterpillar machinery to a high standard.
- Conduct accurate diagnostics – perform fault finding and assessments to identify issues efficiently and minimise downtime.
- Ensure equipment reliability – complete inspections and preventative maintenance to maintain optimal machine performance.
- Maintain precise documentation – complete service reports and records accurately to support operational efficiency.
- Work effectively in a team – collaborate within a high‐performing team environment to achieve shared goals.
- Uphold safety and housekeeping – maintain clean work areas and follow strong safety standards at all times.
What You'll Need
- Strong technical expertise – hold a trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with 5+ years of industry experience.
- Industry experience – work confidently on heavy earthmoving or mining equipment to deliver reliable outcomes.
- Advanced diagnostic skills – conduct effective troubleshooting to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Commitment to safety and teamwork – maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to manage work independently – prioritise tasks effectively and work autonomously to meet deadlines and operational requirements.
- Additional capabilities – hold or be willing to obtain forklift, HR, or other relevant licences and tickets.
