Armidale Rural Referral Hospital - Career Medical Officer in Palliative Care
Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is seeking to engage a Career Medical Officer in Palliative Care medical service to palliative care patients in all care settings, including in-patients, community patients, residential aged care and remote outreach patients, as part of the New England North West specialist multidisciplinary Palliative Care hub, in person and via telehealth. About Armidale Rural Referral Hospital
Armidale Hospital is a ninety -nine bed facility providing a comprehensive range of services including acute medical and surgical services, obstetrics, paediatrics and a range of diagnostic and allied health services. A busy emergency department, a Level 3 Close Observation Unit, mental health unit and renal dialysis unit. The referral community of the area is 55,200. Adult Medical services include respiratory, cardiac, chemotherapy, renal and palliative care. Surgical services include general, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology and ophthalmology. The hospital is a spacious, modern and well-equipped with the most recent development opening in 2019. If an academic career in teaching and research is what interests you, we have opportunities for academic positions in the School of Rural Medicine at the University of New England that could complement your clinical role. Medical students undertake clinical placements and attend teaching at the clinical school which is exceptionally well resourced with simulation laboratories and tutorial rooms.

* Qualified medical practitioner registered in Australia or eligible for registration in Australia with at least three years post-graduate experience and appropriate training and experience to undertake palliative support and care to patients in all care settings.
* High level skills and involvement in clinical care, supervision, mentoring and teaching. Able to exercise a moderate degree of professional independence.
* Demonstrated skills in and commitment to improvements in clinical care, patient safety and risk management processes, including the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to achieve change.
* High level interpersonal communication and team skills.
* Effective communication skills for working within health care organisations and the outside community, including capacity to use electronic communications (e.g. electronic records) effectively.
* Evidence of participation in continuing professional development.
* Demonstrated commitment to the broader service objectives of the public health system, including the effective utilisation of resources, and participation in activities beyond direct patient care
