Signal Brands Australia is a leading multi-brand retail business managing iconic labels such as GUESS, Nine WestHandbags, and Rag & Bone. With up to 300 employees across retail stores and head office, we are looking for an experienced Senior HR & Payroll Coordinator to commence in January 2026.
About the Role
As the Senior HR & Payroll Coordinator, you will oversee the full employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding through to payroll processing, employee changes, and exits. You will act as a trusted advisor to managers, providing practical HR guidance while ensuring compliance with Awards, legislation, and company policies.
You will also manage the preparation and coordination of fortnightly and monthly payrolls, handle complex payroll queries, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across HR and payroll systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources
* Act as the primary HR contact for Retail and Head Office teams, managing day-to-day queries and the HR inbox
* Coordinate end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, contracts, and employee documentation
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS
* Provide advice and support on performance management, disciplinary matters, and employee relations
* Manage parental leave, workers' compensation claims, visa compliance, and exit processes
* Partner with leaders on HR initiatives including engagement, retention, talent management, and succession planning
* Assist with HR reporting, compliance, and business improvement projects
Payroll Coordination
* Prepare and process fortnightly and monthly payrolls for Australia and New Zealand
* Ensure payroll data integrity across payroll and time & attendance systems
* Manage payroll queries and complex issues, escalating where required
* Process employee changes including new starters, transfers, promotions, and terminations
* Support legislative compliance, audits, WGEA reporting, and third-party payments
* Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes
About You
You are a confident, detail-driven HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. You are comfortable balancing operational delivery with continuous improvement and stakeholder partnership.
You will bring:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a combination of generalist HR and Payroll (retail experience highly regarded)
* A Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related discipline
* Strong knowledge of Awards, employment legislation, and payroll processes
* Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with discretion
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
