Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Join the Engineering, Design and Assurance (EDA) team that oversees the engineering, design and assurance requirements across all Sydney Metro projects throughout the project lifecycle. The team is accountable for the Sydney Metro product, driving continuous improvement through innovation and industry leading thought and action.
* Report to the Director Systems Lead, and manage the implementation of assurance, audit tools and processes to monitor and report on the performance of projects, including the implementation of regular assurance plans to ensure all customer needs and business requirements are met within defined scope, quality, safety, time and cost constraints.
* Provide independent, integrated assurance that railway systems delivered across TSMO, IRCS, Rolling Stock and interfacing packages are compliant, safe, verified, and suitable for operational use in accordance with Sydney Metro governance and rail safety legislation.
* Lead or contribute to system and safety assurance reviews, audits and independent assessments.
* Support verification, validation, integrated testing, trial running and readiness reviews.
* Maintain traceability across requirements, hazards, risks, controls and verification evidence.
* Support preparation for Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) engagement and regulatory interfaces.
* Lead systems and safety assurance teams, including specialist reviewers and discipline leads.
* Provide authoritative assurance advice to the Associate Director and governance forums, fostering a robust assurance culture that supports safe, integrated and operable delivery outcomes.
* Contribute to achieving safety, reliability, operability, maintainability and whole-of-life performance objectives.
This is a full-time fixed term opportunity until 30/06/2031 at Transport Senior Service Manager (TSSM) level, offering an attractive remuneration package. Please view the Role Description and information pack.
About You
* Senior systems and safety assurance leader with significant experience delivering assurance on major rail or safety-critical infrastructure projects
* Demonstrated experience in independent systems assurance, system safety and system-of-systems integration
* Strong knowledge of rail safety legislation, ALARP principles, systems assurance and V&V
* Proven leadership in assurance of complex, multi-package, safety-critical rail environments
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Control, Software or related discipline)
* Sydney Metro Competency Level L3 (minimum) – Rail Systems Assurance and Safety Assurance
* Sydney Metro Competency Level L3 (minimum) – Systems Engineering, Integration, V&V and System Safety
* Equivalent to CPEng or recognised professional registration/safety accreditation
* The role is identified as a Rail Safety Worker
