Software Engineer for Starship Guidance Navigation and Control
SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. As a Software Engineer for the Starship Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) team, you will create analysis tools, applications, and execution pipelines that allow vehicles to be flown quickly, reliably, and robustly.
Main Responsibilities:
* Create software solutions for mission planning, navigation, and control of the Starship launch vehicle
* Design and lead development of new software projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams
* Review existing tools and processes to identify areas for improvement, driving more efficient or reliable approaches
* Participate in all phases of a mission, from feasibility analysis and research to concrete mission design and launch operations
* Perform trajectory design, optimization, and dispersion analysis for Starship launch vehicle missions
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, or scientific discipline and 2+ years in a software engineering role
* 2+ years of experience with Python and Python-based development frameworks
Preferred Skills and Experience:
* Experience in orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, classical dynamics, modeling, robotics, or simulation
* Professional or academic experience with physics and/or software related to the physical world
* Strong competency in software development practices, including testing and continuous integration
* Experience working directly on engineering or scientific computing problems
* Educational or professional background in Guidance, Navigation, and Control
* Demonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft systems
