The Principal Project Officer role is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment within the Digital Services and Programs within the Department of Justice.

In this role you will be working within a Digital Services and Programs specialist stream to participate in a variety of project management activities such as risk and issues monitoring and management, project reporting, supporting project governance requirements such as preparing for project boards, participating in procurement activities, and assisting in the monitoring and reporting of project budgets.

Key responsibilities of the role:

* Provide project support, ensuring the project aligns with DSP Program strategies and ways of working including standards, procedures, methods, tools and techniques.
* Assist with the identification, planning and tracking of project activities and dependencies.
* Participate in project governance activities and undertake project secretariat functions including preparation for project board meetings, developing meeting minutes and following up actions.
* Develop and maintain project management collaboration tools, including SharePoint, Microsoft Planner, MS Project, and other tools including project management applications.
* Manage and monitor project risks and issues registers and advising on remediation strategies and plans.
* Provide input into project assurance plans, reviews and health checks.
* Participate in procurement activities, including contributing to and reviewing documentation and supporting evaluation and negotiation processes.
* Assist with undertaking procurement and financial management activities, including raising Purchase Orders, processing payments of invoices, assisting with financial reporting and budget tracking.
* Undertake best practice processes and draw on professional experience and expertise to present clear and independent advice and ensure timely communication to management around the progression of project deliverables.
* Provide high level advice on relevant policy, legislation and procedures, including the preparation of reports, briefings and ministerial correspondence.
* Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position as required.

In this role you will report to the Program Director (CTR Stream), Digital Services and Programs and you will not have any direct reports.

The team and the branch Digital Services and Programs (DSP) are responsible for delivering a program of ICT projects in line with the DoJ ICT Strategy 2021-2026. Queensland Courts rely heavily upon technology to deliver existing services and plan to use technology to further drive strategic change in the way that services are delivered to the community. The outcome of these projects will streamline workflows, make better use of limited human resources, improve client experience, and enable the future move to a digitised and paper-lite court and tribunal system.

The Court Technology Renewal delivery stream within DSP is responsible for delivering multiple projects with a particular focus on audio-visual systems and supporting applications and infrastructure.

Key experience and skills required for the role:

* Proven experience with project management methodologies such as Prince2 and agile approaches.
* Experience PM tools such as MS Project, Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Teams Planner and Outlook.
