Applications Engineer - Pipeline SolutionsWeir MineralsSydney/Brisbane/Adelaide/MelbourneHybridPurpose of Role: We are seeking an Applications Engineer to support our Arterra pipeline solutions product offering.
This role involves collaborating with sales and product specialists, providing input on pipeline materials selection and technical considerations, and conducting field trials across various sites on the East Coast of Australia.
Additionally, the Applications Engineer will prepare tenders and quotes for Weir's Piping Solutions and for other wear solution products, including spools, lining & fabrication, hose, sheet rubber, and moulded products.What is Arterra?Arterra is Weir's Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UMHWPE) Pipeline Solutions product.
Arterra pipelines provide exceptional wear resistance and outstanding durability in demanding mining applications, particularly in tailings and mine concentrate transportation, as well as dredging.
As a result, they help enhance efficiency and sustainability by reducing power consumption, carbon emissions, and operational costs and ensure a longer lifespan.
Key Responsibilities:Technical Support:Review site/client applications and develop comprehensive technical proposals.Evaluate pipeline and material options, providing recommendations based on client needs.Field Trials:Collect baseline data from mining clients.Suggest improvement options with expert guidance.Analyze and communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences.Provide onsite technical support and problem-solving.Use trial data and market intelligence to aid in developing new products and services.Tender Preparation:Prepare tenders and quotes for Weir's Piping Solutions and other wear solution products.Safety First:Commit to zero harm behaviors, supporting our world-class safety culture.Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Mining)Experience or research with pipelines or fluid dynamics is preferredExperience with wear materials is beneficial – plastics, rubber, ceramics and/or white iron in wearing applicationsKnowledge of minerals processing industries is desirableWell-developed written and verbal communication skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.Why choose Weir:Be part of a global organization dedicated to building a better future: At Weir, the growing world depends on us.
