SummaryThe Cloud Engineer will play a key role in delivering reliable, secure, and scalable technology infrastructure for the organisation, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure. Responsibilities include ensuring system availability, security, and performance, while collaborating with the Executive Manager, IT Operations to advance the organisation’s cloud strategy and drive continuous improvement.ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and support the technology operations team while driving continuous improvement in systems, tools, and procedures.Oversee operational risks, budgets, and compliance, ensuring alignment with evolving business and technology needs.Develop, maintain, and improve operational processes, infrastructure, and documentation to ensure reliability, performance, and security.Design and manage Azure cloud infrastructure, including IaC solutions, security controls, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.Collaborate across IT teams and projects to integrate cloud services, support continuous delivery, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing.Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents across both on-prem and cloud environments to ensure high availability and business continuity.Experience and QualificationsMicrosoft Azure certification (AZ-104, AZ-305) or equivalent practical experience.5+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure or software development, with strong expertise in Azure and virtualised environments.Proficient with Microsoft and Linux platforms, and experienced in supporting complex, multi-tier systems.Skilled in scripting and automation using Bash, PowerShell, Python, CDK, Bicep, and/or Terraform.Experience with monitoring systems, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and infrastructure metrics.Knowledge of secure development practices and security hardening techniques.Demonstrated ability to stay current with Azure technologies and adapt to project needs.Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to work effectively across teams and organisational levels.Experienced in cloud infrastructure design and management, with a focus on scalability, availability, and disaster recovery.Excellent written, verbal, and documentation abilities.This is hybrid full-time permanent role located in Newcastle (may consider applicants from Sydney) and is offering between $150,000 - $170,000 + super.*Please note, Australian Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship is required to be considered for this position and successful applicants will be contacted.
