NatRoad, in partnership with Aurec, is seeking a self-starting General Manager to lead growth and innovation at Australia's largest road transport association. The General Manager is responsible for leading people and creating a high performing work environment. With the ability to build strong long-term relationships across industry, government, and members, the role will oversee core business functions including human resources, strategic planning and delivery, legal and procurements, corporate partnerships, and sponsorship. NatRoad represents thousands of members across Australia, from owner operators to large national fleets.
Key responsibilities
* Lead the development, communication, and delivery of NatRoad's strategic and operational plans, ensuring alignment with the organisation's vision, values, and priorities.
* Lead and implement strategies to grow membership and drive engagement initiatives
* Lead and maintain high quality engagement and productive relationships with key stakeholders, partners and alliances maintaining the consistent delivery and alignment of the NatRoad identity and values.
* Develop and execute NatRoad's partnership strategy to maximise value, influence, and growth opportunities aligned with organisational objectives.
* Negotiate, manage, and monitor the full lifecycle of partnership and sponsorship agreements, ensuring timely delivery of commitments, compliance, and strategic alignment.
* Proactively identify and secure new sponsorship opportunities that align with NatRoad's advocacy, influence, and growth priorities.
* Represent NatRoad at external meetings, events, and forums, building visibility, credibility, and presence across the industry.
* Oversee projects that drive strategic outcomes, ensuring effective scoping, resourcing, risk oversight and delivery within budget and timelines.
* Lead human resource functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations to support a high performing and engaged workforce.
* Oversee workforce planning, career pathways and succession planning to ensure future capability and continuity.
* Maintain compliant and current employment contracts, HR policies, and documentation in line with legislative requirements.
* Ensure NatRoad remains compliant with all relevant workplace legislation and HR policies.
* Oversee end-to-end procurement processes, including supplier selection, due diligence, contract negotiation, and performance review.
* Ensure NatRoad meets its legal and contractual obligations through proactive governance, risk management, and internal controls.
* Demonstrated financial literacy and hands-on financial management experience.
* Maintain a coordinated approach to partner engagement, ensuring consistency in communication, value reporting, lead generation, and alignment with member growth target.
Skills, experience, and capabilities
* 10+ years of proven senior leadership experience across strategy, partnerships, or corporate services.
* Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and supplier management.
* Experience in human resources or people leadership with strong understanding of employment law and best practice.
* Project management or strategic planning experience with a track record of successful delivery.
* Tertiary qualifications in finance ,business, law or a related field.
