About This Conservation Role
The Natural Areas Trainee will be trained to assist with the conservation and management of natural assets, including native vegetation, waterways, and bushland within parks, reserves, and open space areas.
Main Responsibilities:
* Supporting ecological restoration projects by participating in planting and maintenance activities;
* Contributing to the control of invasive plant and animal species in natural areas through monitoring and eradication efforts;
* Maintaining walking tracks, fences, signage, and other infrastructure related to natural spaces;
* Assisting with environmental monitoring activities, including water quality and biodiversity assessments;
* Providing support for community education and engagement initiatives when appropriate.
Requirements:
* A higher school certificate or equivalent qualification;
* A current driver's licence (minimum provisional P1 licence or equivalent);
* Eligibility to enroll in AHC31424 Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management;
* An interest in working outdoors and in environmental conservation;
* Willingness to work independently and in remote conditions.
