Job Opportunity: National Operations Manager – Bears Auto Group
Location: Multi-State (NSW, QLD, VIC, ACT) – Head Office in Wollongong NSW
Employment Type: Full-Time
About Us
Bears Auto Group is a family‑owned and nationally recognised automotive services provider with almost 40 years of industry experience. With sites across four states and strong partnerships with insurers, OEMs, and major fleet operators, we specialise in:
* National Hail Repairs
* Smash Repairs
* ADAS Calibrations & Coding
We are entering a major growth phase with new sites planned, enhanced capabilities being rolled out nationally, and a renewed focus on operational discipline, consistency, and performance.
The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced National Operations Manager to oversee the performance and operational delivery of all Bears Auto Group repair sites.
Reporting directly to the General Manager and Directors, you will ensure that each site follows established processes, meets performance targets, and maintains the highest levels of quality, productivity, and service.
A key expectation of this role is to drive accountability across all levels of the organisation, ensuring operational discipline is upheld and results are achieved consistently.
With multiple new sites planned as part of our national expansion strategy, this role will play a central part in preparing locations, onboarding teams, and ensuring each new operation is set up for long‑term success.
Critical Experience Required
We are only considering candidates who meet the following criteria:
* Significant experience working in the smash repair and/or hail repair industry
* Previous experience as an Operations Manager, National Manager, Regional Manager, or Multi‑Site Manager in automotive repair
* A proven track record of lifting site performance, enforcing processes, and driving profitability
* Ability to make an immediate impact without lengthy onboarding or industry ramp‑up time
* Hands‑on understanding of workshop flow, panel & paint operations, job costing, KPIs, and insurer‑driven repair programs
We are not seeking someone transitioning from another industry.
This role requires someone who already understands the real operations of a hail/smash repair network and can step in and execute from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Accountability
Ensure all sites follow processes, SOPs and insurer/OEM requirements. Drive accountability, conduct regular audits, and develop Site Managers and Workshop Leaders.

Monitor key metrics such as cycle time, quality, labour efficiency, profitability and safety. Implement improvement strategies and hold teams accountable through clear reporting and follow‑up.
National Growth & Expansion
Support new site rollouts, onboarding and systems setup. Assist the General Manager and Directors with expansion planning to ensure each site meets national standards and consistent service models.
Identify and implement operational efficiencies, system upgrades and workflow improvements. Lead quality control and audit processes across the network.
Review P&Ls, profitability, labour ratios, consumables and quoting accuracy. Assist with budgeting and forecasting, and support strong insurer, OEM, fleet and supplier relationships.
About You
* Strong background in automotive operations, panel & paint, or multi‑site service management.
* Proven ability to drive accountability, enforce process discipline, and lift operational performance.
* Experienced in multi‑site leadership with a focus on consistency, structure and execution.
* Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of job costing, labour management and financial performance.
* Able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment undergoing significant national growth.
