The role of the Liaison Officer - Community Facilities is to work with Council’s hirers,
Community Tenants, and Commercial Tenants to ensure the effective and efficient
operation and use of Council owned community facilities

Hirers, Commercial Tenants**
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- **

Respond to internal and external enquiries/requests with regard to the Council’s
community facilities and commercial tenancies in accordance with the adopted
customer service standards;
- Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team;
- Assist with the resolution of issues associated with the use and management of
public halls and community buildings
- Give direction/support to Booking Officers to resolve booking disputes and clarify
Council’s position.
- Develop effective working relationships, identify problem areas and investigate
funding options with a view to improve community facilities outcomes in the Blue
Mountains.
- Assist in the development of plans, programs and projects that deliver community
facilities outcomes within available budgets.

Page 1 Review, develop, implement and maintain policies and protocols relating to the
management and operation of community facilities.
- Prepare correspondence including discussion papers, reports and letters on
community facilities related matters or as directed.
- Undertake other facility related activities as assigned by the program leader and
act in other roles within the branch
- Be prepared to attend _out-of-hours_ meetings as requiredPerform work in accordance with the Council’s values and behaviours and

**Workplace Health & Safety**
Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but
are not limited to identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and
notifying your Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety
Representative); never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which
you do not have the experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and
training or where the correct equipment to carry out the task safely is not available;
always work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety instructions, where
applicable; use the work equipment supplied for the job, in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions), and any personal protective equipment, which the
Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety aware and report any actions
to your line manager which will assist the Council to meet its legal workplace health
and safety obligations.

You have the right to cease or direct cessation of unsafe work. In addition you are
required at all times to comply with Councils Asbestos Management Plan and Policy.

**Compliance & Risk**
You are responsible for ensuring that you conduct your risk management
responsibilities as described in council's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Policy

and Procedure (the ERM Framework) with the goal of ensuring that potential issues
are identified and reported in a timely manner. In undertaking your work should you
identify contaminated land or potentially contaminated land, including but not limited
to asbestos contamination you are required to notify your supervisor immediately.**
**COMMUNICATION**

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as the incumbent will
need to communicate with a wide range of people in a wide range of internal and
external settings for the purpose of both giving and receiving information and
resolving stakeholder conflicts and issues.

This will involve initiating and leading discussions, attending and contributing to
meetings, making presentations, seeking agreement and resolving problems and
competing needs.
