Overview
AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.
The Solutions Architect team at AWS is responsible for helping customers successfully implement cloud technologies. Partnering with internal teams and leveraging a deep knowledge of our tools and products, you'll craft highly-scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that address our customers' business problems. You'll have the opportunity to innovate daily and define the future of cloud computing. This role sits within the Public Sector team to shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of AWS cloud services within our strategic accounts and own the ongoing technical relationship with customers in the Australian Government community.
The AWS Solutions Architecture team works with the Australian Government and AWS partners on architecting innovative solutions for all stakeholders. Our work can be highly sensitive and time-critical, focusing on strategic and operational outcomes. We are passionate about supporting our Public Sector community and will go the extra mile to ensure we achieve successful outcomes. We are consistently challenged with unique and diverse requirements that require out-of-the-box thinking supported by deep technical knowledge.
Responsibilities
The broad responsibilities include owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects, and developing a deep expertise in AWS technologies as well as broad knowledge of how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform.
The ideal candidate will possess communication skills that allow them to represent Amazon well within a customer's environment and drive discussions with senior personnel, as well as a technical background that enables interaction and guidance to software developers and architects. They should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.

Key job responsibilities
* As a Senior Solutions Architect, help customers plan their successful cloud journey. Solve complex, technical challenges so customers can focus on their business. Craft scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures. Drive technical solutions discussions, diving deep into the details with customer teams.
* Build relationships to understand customers and partners. As a trusted technical advisor, influence a variety of stakeholders from technical teams to executives. Help ensure short-term technology decisions align with long-term goals. Accelerate adoption of AWS services.
* Act as a thought leader in the wider community, educating, sharing best practices, presenting at events, writing white papers and blogs, and running workshops.
* Shape the direction of AWS products and services by gathering feedback from customers and collaborating with engineering and service teams.

About The Team: This role is within the Public Sector Solutions Architecture team, working with public sector customers in the Australian Government, National Security and Defence. You will help shape and deliver a strategy to build mind share and broad use of AWS services within critical strategic accounts.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
* 8+ years of experience in technology domains (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
* 7+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience.
* Ability to lead complex technical projects that may require participation from other teams.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences, including executive-level stakeholders.
* Experience architecting or deploying Cloud/Virtualization solutions in enterprise customers.
* Ability to create proofs of concept, demos, and/or scripts from scratch or using reusable components.
* Experience working with Federal government.
* Ability to present to technical and business audiences (training, workshops, publications).
