Build infrastructure that people rely on every day. Maybe you've just graduated. Maybe you've spent a year in the private sector and realised you want broader exposure and to see how engineering decisions play out in the real world.

If you're curious about how cities function, motivated by community impact and keen to develop practical capability, this is where that growth begins.

At the City of Armadale, one of Western Australia's fastest-growing local governments, you won't be confined to one narrow stream of work. You'll gain exposure across civil infrastructure, asset management and operational service delivery, seeing how engineering decisions directly affect roads, parks, buildings and public spaces.

This isn't about working on one small piece of a large project. It's about understanding how the whole system works.

About the Role

This is a development-focused position designed to build strong, practical engineering capability.

Working alongside experienced operational teams and senior staff, you'll learn how real-world decisions are made - balancing cost, risk, sustainability, safety and long-term asset performance.

You'll be involved in:

* Supporting maintenance programs across civil, property and open space assets
* Analysing asset and operational data to support informed decision-making
* Preparing reports and technical recommendations
* Assisting with contractor coordination and service delivery oversight
* Contributing to process improvement initiatives
* Collaborating with internal stakeholders and understanding governance processes

As your experience grows, so will the complexity of the work you're exposed to. You'll gain insight into how engineering, budgeting, risk and community expectations intersect in a local government environment.

About You

You're thoughtful, motivated and genuinely interested in how infrastructure supports communities.

You might be a recent graduate, or early in your career and looking for broader, more meaningful exposure.

You're someone who:

* Is analytical and comfortable asking questions
* Takes a practical, solution-focused approach
* Communicates clearly and professionally
* Is open to learning from experienced operators and engineers
* Cares about delivering safe and reliable public infrastructure

You'll also have:

* A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline)
* A current C-Class Driver's Licence
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* An interest in developing capability across asset management and service delivery

We value initiative, integrity and a genuine willingness to learn, along with community involvement - whether through volunteering, student projects, sports clubs or other activities that demonstrate you care about making Armadale a better place. Strong mentoring and guidance from experienced leaders

Why Join Us
* Direct exposure to operational engineering environments
* Broad experience across multiple asset classes
* Structured mentoring and professional development
* Flexible working arrangements (9-day fortnight or 19-day month options)
* Free membership to Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre
* Superannuation matching up to 15%
* Study assistance
