Overview
Senior Legal Counsel – full or part time (4 days per week) at Bendigo Bank. This role can be based in Adelaide, Bendigo, Melbourne or Sydney with flexible work options and a hybrid model requiring a minimum of 60% time in the office.
Our Group Legal division provides legal advice and support to the Bank's business units, senior leaders, and executives on a broad variety of legal issues. The Senior Legal Counsel will partner closely with the business as a trusted legal advisor to support strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, regulated environment, and assist with major projects and transactions including regulatory changes and risk responses.
We're seeking a mid to senior level lawyer with demonstrated experience in the financial services sector, ideally with specialised experience supporting large tenders, procurement and technology, and an understanding of prudential standards, including CPS234 and CPS230.

Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice and support to the Bank's business units, senior leaders, and executives on a broad range of matters.
* Partner with the business as a trusted advisor to support strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
* Assist with major projects and transactions, including regulatory changes and risk exposure responses.
* Support tenders, procurement, and technology-related legal needs within the Banking and Financial Services sector.
Qualifications
* A legal qualification and admission to practice in Australia
* Experience in a similar role within Banking and Financial Services (private practice or in-house)
* Strong relationship skills to build trust with senior executives and business partners
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to interpret and explain complex legislation and to plan and implement policy and risk management strategies considering regulatory changes
