About the role
We're looking for a full‐time Trade Marks Paralegal to join our high‐performing Intellectual Property team in Melbourne, assisting with the management of global and domestic trade mark portfolios across some of Australia and the world's most iconic brands and companies. You'll be part of a collaborative team led by Partner, Bill Ladas.
Key responsibilities
* Managing end‐to‐end trade mark prosecution tasks, including filing, renewals and portfolio maintenance
* Preparing and filing new trade mark applications with IP Australia and IPONZ
* Monitoring and managing all relevant deadlines
* Entering and maintaining records in WebTMS and other databases
* Preparing documentation such as renewal notices, powers of attorney, assignments and filings
* Conducting intellectual property searches for due diligence and trade mark clearance
* Liaising directly with clients and foreign agents to take instructions, provide updates and report on filings
* Supporting lawyers with administrative and data‐heavy tasks, including litigation and disputes work during peak periods
* Working on both billable and fixed‐fee matters
* Contributing to a busy, friendly team environment with exposure to a wide variety of IP matters
About You
* Previous experience in a trade mark paralegal, trade mark administrator or similar IP role
* Strong knowledge of trade mark prosecution processes and IP Australia requirements
* Experience using WebTMS (or similar IP management system)
* Trade mark clearance and searching capability
* Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising directly with clients
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines
* A proactive and collaborative approach
