Job Purpose:
To design, implement, manage, and maintain secure and efficient computer networks and systems that support the organisation's operational and strategic goals. This role ensures reliable connectivity, optimal performance, and data integrity. It involves system configuration, troubleshooting, and technical support, while also staying updated with evolving technologies to enhance infrastructure scalability and security. The position is expected to operate seamlessly with internal team members as well as outsourced resources to achieve desired business outcome and solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyse and interpret complex system specifications and design networks to meet strategic and operational business needs.
- Monitor network and system activities, capacities and usage to maintain reliability and optimise performance for users.
- Evaluate network and systems infrastructure and recommend strategies for improvement to drive a high level of performance.
- Extend specialist support in troubleshooting network problems, addressing both minor issues and emergencies swiftly and efficiently.
- Design, develop and install new and productive network and systems architecture, applications and servers based on client needs.
- Drive appropriate procedures and documentation controls for network inventory, issue diagnostics and resolutions.
- Analyse and evaluate system and network designs, architecture requirements, models and diagrams for implementation of new systems.
- Provide network programming expertise to support specific business and client needs, ensuring that network systems performance stays optimal.
- Participate in ongoing training provided by the organisation to drive overall business and systems improvement.
- Operate in a team environment, working closely with key stakeholders to meet and deliver organisational goals.
Skills and Specifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology with minimum 2 years of work experience.
- Proven experience in network and systems administration, with a strong understanding of network protocols, security, and infrastructure.
- Expertise in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting network hardware and software including routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs.
- Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools, network design architecture, system tools and applications.
- Passion for learning, strong acumen for problem solving and a disproportionate focus on client and customer service needs.
