As a Ventilation Mechanical Engineer at Hatch, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable underground mining operations. Your focus will be on designing, implementing, and maintaining ventilation systems that meet regulatory standards and optimize airflow throughout the mine.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project manage ventilation related projects
* Develop and maintain ventilation plans for development, production, and project activities.
* Ensure compliance with all legislative, internal, and best practice standards for ventilation and occupational health and safety.
* Build and maintain accurate ventilation models using industry-standard software (e.g., VentSim).
* Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate ventilation requirements into mine planning.
* Identify and manage ventilation-related risks, recommending effective control measures.
* Support the implementation of advanced systems such as Ventilation on Demand (VoD).
* Provide technical advice and innovative solutions to improve ventilation practices.
You bring to the role:
You're a skilled mining professional with a strong foundation in ventilation design and planning. You know how to keep underground environments safe and efficient by managing airflow, controlling dust and gases, and using tools like VentSim to model and optimise systems. You're analytical, proactive, and great at solving problems, whether it's interpreting data, improving ventilation strategies, or collaborating with teams to deliver practical solutions. Clear communication and a focus on safety are at the heart of everything you do. You thrive in dynamic environments and can adapt quickly to changing conditions underground. You're passionate about innovation and finding smarter ways to improve ventilation performance. Most importantly, you bring a commitment to health, safety, and sustainability in every decision you make.
