Aurora's operating culture prioritises the health and safety of its employees - inclusive of a strong work-life balance, animal welfare and seeks to positively contribute to the environment and communities in which Aurora operates.Job Description Aurora Dairies are currently seeking a Farm Manager for a dairy farm located in Mella, which is 6 minutes away from Smithton or 1 hour 20 minutes away from Burnie.is approximately 345Ha effective area with 170 Ha under centre pivot, currently milking 1,250 cows, through a 60-bail rotaryshed with ACR's, auto teat spray and auto drafting.Great infrastructure, Dairy just few years old.This farm is 100% Spring calving beginning in mid- August.The herd is medium frame cross breed cows with a strong focus on animal health and pasture management.The farm is currently using Halter as a management tool.Accommodation will be provided to the successful applicant in a family home, and there could be opportunities for employment for your partner, if required.As Farm Manager you will need to be a team player creating an environment where people can develop to help achieve desired outcomes. You will have well developed pasture management and animal husbandry skills and understand the demands of large scale dairy farming. Safety will be at the forefront of everything you do.Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will:Ensure safe operations across the property through the implementation of our Safety Management SystemManage and direct staff to achieve positive outcomesExhibit sound and accurate judgement to ensure the highest standards of animal health and welfareReport on farm plans and inventoryPaddock inspection estimating quality and availability of pasturesImplement stock rotations and contribute to plans for future feed budgetsFeed management to support achievement of budgeted production targetsMonitor and maintain water and fencingMaintain accurate stock, treatment, and feeding recordsOperate and maintain plant and equipmentCoordinate contractors for required fertiliser, hay/silage making activitiesAdhere to company policies and safe work procedures.Qualifications The desired skills and experience for this opportunity are:You will be an energetic, and self-motivated individual with strong cattle and pasture management skills, who is keen to get stuck in and get the job done.
