Murray Irrigation Limited (MIL) is seeking a proactive Project Financial Controller to be responsible for ensuring sound financial governance, the implementation of project financial controls and risk management for the $70M Restoring Murray Waterways Project. This project involves the upgrade of civil infrastructure along creeks and waterways on predominantly private land within the Murray Irrigation Limited area of operations (centred around Deniliquin NSW) to support environmental watering of suitable creeks and wetlands.

MIL is located in southern NSW and uses approximately 2,755km of gravity‐fed earthen channels to deliver a five‐year average of 728GL to their landholders, through efficient management of their NSW Murray Regulated River Water Access Licences (WALs). Farm businesses in the area predominantly include rice, cereals, wheat, canola, annual pasture, dairy, wool, beef and lamb, with an average gross value agriculture production of $500 million.

About the role
This role will be responsible for project financial reporting including budget, actual cost, forecast at completion, earned value reporting, ledger reconciliations and cashflow forecast/treasury management.
The Project Financial Controller will ensure contract and supplier payments are in accordance with Murray Irrigation policy and statutory requirements, and ensure all expenditure is in line with the funding agreement eligibility requirements and maintain accurate records for project audit and acquittal.
Reporting to the General Manager Finance and working closely with the Strategy and Assurance Manager, project team, MIL finance team, external auditors, contractors, consultants, management and funding partners, the Project Financial Controller will play a critical role in maintaining transparency, delivering financial insights, modelling and analysis, to support decision‐making to ensure the efficient and compliant delivery of the project.
About you
* A bachelor's degree majoring in business, accounting, finance or commerce.
* Accounting software experience. The use of Pronto Financial System and/or Workday would be advantageous.
* Familiarisation with financial regulations and compliance with accounting standards.
* Experience working on a large infrastructure project.
* Effective communication skills. The ability to interact in a professional manner with management, employees, and other stakeholders. Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
* Attention to detail and data entry skills.
* Highly developed organisational skills and ability to meet targets and objectives.
* Established ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks, and meet deadlines.
* Demonstrate willingness to be flexible and undertake other activities as required from time to time.
* Demonstrated skills with the suite of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
* Membership of a professional accounting body, such as CA or CPA would be highly regarded.
