Senior Communications Expert
Martinus are seeking a Senior Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Adviser for our Inland Rail project, based out of Wagga. This role will play a pivotal part in delivering high-level communication and engagement services as well as expert advice, developing and implementing communication strategies, and managing key stakeholder relationships to ensure successful delivery of this critical infrastructure project.
The main duties include leading the development and execution of Communication Engagement Plans aligned with project milestones, providing strategic advice to senior leaders and project managers, identifying, engaging, and managing relationships with landowners and other affected stakeholders, liaising with authorities and external partners to secure permissions and approvals related to land access and infrastructure works, and managing sensitive stakeholder issues with professionalism and responsiveness.
This position requires extensive experience in major infrastructure or construction projects, preferably within government or public-private partnership environments. Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships in sensitive or high-impact environments is essential. Strong writing, editing, reporting, and verbal communication skills are also required, as well as proficiency in tools such as Consultation Manager and Microsoft Office Suite. A commitment to collaboration, transparency, and ethical engagement is necessary for success in this role.
About the Project
The Inland Rail Program is a 1700km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking, and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings, and bridges.
Works in the Albury to Illabo section involve extensive enhancements to specific sites across the 185km of existing track running from Albury to Illabo. These enhancements will provide the necessary vertical and horizontal clearance along the existing 'Main South Line' corridor to support the safe running of double-stacked freight trains up to 1800m long and 6.5m high.
