The Role

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to fill the role of EL 1 – Commercial Manager within the Submarines Division of the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group.

In this role, you will exercise a degree of independence and build strong relationships with stakeholders across the Submarine Enterprise. You will work productively and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, delivering competing and time critical commercial outcomes in support of complex activities across the entire procurement lifecycle.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team

Submarines Division is within the Department of Defence’s Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group. Submarines Division exists to deliver enduring, potent and credible submarine capability vital to Australia’s national security. The Submarine capability we deliver includes the submarines themselves, their support systems and the associated sovereign industrial base.

The Commercial team supports the commercial needs of the Submarines Division including conducting complex procurements and contracting activities, contract management and commercial management of complex risks and issues. The team works closely and collaboratively with the Australian Submarine Agency and major Defence industries.

The Division works in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy and Industry to deliver the strategic submarine capability to the nation. - An ability to build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and manage a team, set work priorities, manage workflows and set clear performance and behaviour standards

Eligibility

Security Clearance:

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
