The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) is seeking applications for an experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to deliver strategic business benefits through leading and embracing technology solutions to help shape the future of the Tribunal. This position will be appointed for an initial period of 3 years with the possibility of extension and can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, or Sydney.
Remuneration: A highly competitive salary package is available – to be negotiated with the successful candidate, along with a generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%.
About the opportunity
This is a senior executive opportunity to assist in shaping and implementing the Tribunal’s strategic direction and identify opportunities to enhance the Tribunal’s capacity for providing quality services.
As the CIO you will provide strategic leadership across the Enterprise Technology Group (ETG) to manage existing infrastructure and solutions and oversee the implementation of ICT and data strategies and functions to support operations and drive the Tribunal’s Enterprise Technology investments. You will lead your teams through successful delivery of secure, contemporary and fit‑for‑purpose technology solutions aligned with the Tribunal’s statutory objectives and Corporate Plan.
Working closely with senior leaders, members and staff across the Tribunal, you will translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes. A key focus of this role will be to align the Tribunal’s digital and information capabilities with the Australian Government’s APS AI Plan, ensuring safe, transparent and effective adoption of AI.
This is an exciting role where your expertise will help shape the technology landscape at a pivotal stage of the Tribunal’s establishment and growth.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Sound information and communications technology leadership experience across a complex landscape of existing and new solutions, and advanced professional and public administration expertise.
* Strong executive leadership – exemplary communication, negotiation, interpersonal and relationship building skills consistent with the Australian Public Service SES Performance Leadership Framework.
* Strategic acumen – with the ability to set direction and apply sound judgement.
* A collaborative approach – with ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships, facilitating partnerships, valuing individual differences and diversity; guiding, mentoring and developing people.

* Hold or have ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 clearance following commencement.
* All employees are required to undertake an Australian Federal Police Check and complete a health declaration.
* Previous experience as a CIO managing and leading the delivery of effective information services in a complex medium to large‑sized organisation.
