We are seeking a professional and passionate
Senior Pharmacy Technician
to join our Clinical Services team in a
permanent, full-time
position, working predominantly at our South Brisbane Campus.
Mater Health Services, South East Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals at South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland caring for over 500,000 patients each year.
Mater Pharmacy provides a clinical service to all inpatient areas and some outpatient clinics, so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a strong, unified, inter-professional Clinical Services team at Mater.
In this position you will work closely with the Team Leader Inpatient Services to co-ordinate and support Pharmacy Technicians and Students working alongside Clinical Pharmacists to ensure required medications are made available across all clinical areas of our South Brisbane campus.
Your time will predominantly be spent working in our 2 dispensary areas to, one of which has a BD Rowa, assisting with the imprest service and supporting other pharmacy technicians working in rotational roles such as dispensing, PBS Claiming, and day oncology clinics.
In all settings, you will provide customers, patients, carers and other health professionals with support and information relating to medication and uphold medication safety practices.
This includes but is not limited to:
Providing responsive customer-focused service
Answering phone calls from both internal and external customers and patients
Supervising and maintaining productive medication supply processes for dispensed medicines and imprest
Ensuring accurate and timely delivery of required medications to clinical areas and patients
Assisting to monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels in the pharmacy
Cold chain management of refrigerated medicines
Training and supporting less experienced staff and those rotating to new roles
Assisting the Team Leader with rostering, following up incidents & issues and quality improvement activities.
Liaising with other teams within the pharmacy department including Inventory Management, Clinical Trials, Production Unit and Cancer services.
While this role will be based at our South Brisbane campus, there will also be the opportunity to work at Springfield and/or Redland from time to time to cover or train other Senior Technicians.

About you
To be considered for this role you must have:
Undertaking or completion of Certificate IV in Community/Hospital Pharmacy (or equivalent)
A professional attitude, effective communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
Passion for customer service and appreciation of the importance of delivering exceptional service every time
Professional, hardworking attitude and willing to work cooperatively and effectively with all team members
Other highly regarded attributes:
Previous experience within hospital pharmacy setting
The ability to work at Mater Hospital locations including South Brisbane, Redland and Springfield
