About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to ensure the reliability, safety, and compliance of our plant and fleet assets.
This pivotal role involves hands-on diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance, contributing to the seamless operation of essential community services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Fleet Maintenance & Repairs: Diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on our fleet assets.
* Outsourced Services Coordination: Engage and manage suitably qualified external providers for specialised repairs and maintenance.
* Compliance Assurance: Ensure all fleet, plant, equipment, and workshop environments comply with statutory regulations.
* Operational Accountabilities Professional Standards: Adhering to OEM requirements and current industry standards.
* Workshop Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and safety compliance in work areas.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Address internal and external inquiries, customer service requests, and complaints.
* Specialized Repairs: Air conditioning repairs, auto electrical, welding, fabrication, and hydraulics as required.
* Mentorship: Supervise and mentor apprentices, fostering skill development and knowledge transfer.
* Operational Flexibility: Relief work at other locations throughout the region.
* Additional Duties: As directed, consistent with skills, competence, and training.
Requirements
* Essential C Class Open Licence.
* Trade qualification in Mechanical (Diesel Fitter) and suitable trade experience.
* Knowledge in Metal Arc Welding / MIG / Oxy Cutting and Welding.
* Ability to work independently or in a small team environment.
* Knowledge of operations and maintenance of a diverse range of vehicles, plant and equipment.
* General Construction Safety Induction (White Card).
* Desirable Knowledge and experience in multiple mechanical trade disciplines such as hydraulic, auto electrics, fabrication etc.
* Additional licenses for operating specialised equipment are advantageous (HR Class, High Risk work, Air-conditioning or Refrigerant Handling Licences etc.).
* Other relevant trade certificates in vehicle, plant and truck repair works.
