The Senior Associate will support senior lawyers in delivering strategic and pragmatic legal advice across a broad spectrum of Professional Indemnity/financial lines and construction matters.
This includes providing coverage advice to insurers, handling disputes, drafting legal documents, and contributing to business development initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Day-to-day conduct of a range of complex litigated and unlitigated files.
* Responsible for preparing coverage and associated advice to insurers (including local and London Underwriters) and compliance with insurer KPIs.
* Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
* Appearing in court and instructing counsel.
* Communicating with external stakeholders such as other parties, Insured clients, counsel and experts.
* Assisting with and driving business development opportunities.
* Mentoring and assisting with the training of more junior team members.
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends.
* Following all the Firm's policies and procedures.
* Ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Admission to practice law in Australia.
* Experience in insurance litigation/advising insurers is highly regarded, but not essential.
* Experience in general litigation is required.
* Desire to work collaboratively in a high performing team.
* An interest in fee-earning and case management.
* High level of competency with iManage (or similar document management system) and time recording software.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products (including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel), along with the willingness to be trained further.
* A willingness to adopt and utilise AI and new technologies.
* A proactive attitude with the ability to learn quickly.
* Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
* High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
