We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Australia's East Coast. This role will oversee the full project lifecycle - from late-stage development into construction, commissioning, and handover into operations - ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget. As Project Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving Australia's clean energy transition, working closely with investors, network providers, contractors, regulators, and internal leadership teams. Key Responsibilities Oversee the delivery of multiple BESS projects concurrently, managing risks, schedules, budgets, and resources Drive EPC contracting strategies, procurement, construction, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements Represent the business with external stakeholders, including AEMO, NSPs, government bodies, JV partners, landowners, and local communities Ensure cost control, risk management, and financial performance across the portfolio, reporting regularly to senior leadership and investors Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and consultants to achieve successful project outcomes Champion a strong safety culture and ensure projects meet statutory, environmental, and quality standards Provide input into project pipeline planning, technology selection, and continuous improvement across the portfolio About You 10 years' experience in project delivery within energy, renewables, infrastructure, or power generation Proven track record leading utility-scale renewable energy or storage projects (BESS experience highly regarded) Strong knowledge of Australian energy markets, NEM connection processes, and grid compliance requirements Demonstrated expertise in EPC contract negotiation and management Commercially astute with a strong grasp of project finance drivers, CAPEX/OPEX optimisation, and IRR/NPV impacts Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage at board, government, and community levels Degree in engineering, construction, or project management (or equivalent).
