Job Opportunity
This role involves working on a project aimed at eradicating Yellow Crazy Ants in accordance with the Yellow Crazy Ant Management Program. As an Ecology Technician, you will be part of a small team led by a Crew Leader.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct field work in various environments including remote areas, farmland, mountains, residential properties, roadsides, parkland, construction sites, and industrial areas
* Operate light plant items, machinery, and equipment associated with Yellow Crazy Ant management works safely
* Maintain effective communication skills both orally and in writing
* Demonstrate problem-solving skills to achieve effective solutions to challenges encountered during the project
* Accurately report observations and follow instructions as required
* Operate Microsoft Suite and field equipment such as data loggers and GPS devices
Requirements
* A valid Working with Children Queensland Notice Blue Card (or ability to obtain)
* Townsville City Council Authorised Persons and Local Government Worker Card
* A current Manual 'C' Class license
* A Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD)
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Certificate III Conservation and Land Management or similar qualification
* Pest Management Technicians (Domestic Pest) license
* 4WD training
* Inspect and Clean Machinery for Plant, Animal and Soil Material competency
* Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck
* Certified to Operate an ATV/SxS
* First Aid/CPR Certificate
