What you'll do * Use and maintain equipment correctly, reporting damages/faults promptly. * Collect specimens from reception. * Prepare samples for analysis and storage. * Prepare basic solutions under the direction of scientific staff and perform technical tasks under supervision. * Record temperatures of freezers, cold room, incubators, water baths or others as indicated. * Monitor stock levels of consumable items as required. * Ensure your compliance with the correct use and storage of chemicals and hazardous substances, and identify and report hazards in a timely manner. About you We are searching for someone who has: * Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise workloads. * Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner with or without direct supervision. * Effective communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively as part of a team. * An awareness of the need for a high standard of performance in all aspects of work in a medical laboratory and a commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement. * Compliance with and utilisation of human resource management requirements and practices, including workplace, health and safety, equal opportunity and anti-discrimination requirements. * While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Pathology (Laboratory Assistance) or equivalent would be well regarded.
