Overview
2 x Visiting Medical Officer Positions Available up to 426 hours annually – Temporary Until 30 June 2027. The positions are with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) and based primarily at Wollongong Hospital and Shellharbour Hospital.
The role involves orthopaedic upper limb surgery, trauma services, teaching, and participation in departmental governance.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the Orthopaedic Service at ISLHD.
- Regular elective orthopaedic list, trauma list, and orthopaedic outpatient clinics (including fracture clinics).
- Equal participation on the Orthopaedic/Trauma On Call roster (expected to be a minimum of 1 in 12).
- Provide high-quality teaching and supervision to junior medical staff and participate in departmental meetings and clinical governance activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Possess or be working towards subspecialty training in Orthopaedic Upper Limb Surgery.
- Essential requirements: Vaccination requirements for a Category A role; Working With Children Check (WWCC); Current AHPRA Registration; Valid NSW Driver’s Licence.
Location & Duration
Primary locations: Wollongong Hospital and Shellharbour Hospital (may be varied with approval). Temporary appointments up to 426 hours annually until 30 June 2027.
