PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As a Broadcast IT Technician, you will be primarily responsible for the first line support of the onsite Broadcast & IT technology systems, ensuring the seamless provision of Broadcast, Media & OTT services for our customers. You will perform a range of both routine and complex tasks whilst providing high level technical and operational support of NPC Media's television broadcast systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide support for the following systems: playout automation; transmission encoding; non-linear editing; Digital Asset Management; a range of networked devices using diverse operating systems such as Linux and OS-X; IP Networks and networking infrastructure.
Perform installation, wiring, design, commissioning/decommissioning, and testing.
Respond to reports of technical equipment failures, supporting Operations in maintaining critical services.
Support the diagnose and correction of equipment faults efficiently and effectively, working with third party suppliers as required.
Provide technical advice to operators regarding equipment and systems.
Ensure allocated projects and tasks are completed to specification and within time limits
Work as part of a 24/7 rotating shift roster.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Essential Experience & Skills
Experience with desktop and server operating systems, including Linux and OS-X.
Good understanding and experience in server hardware maintenance.
Understanding of general networking (routers, switches, wireless).
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously.
Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, prioritise and problem solve.
A flexible attitude to working irregular hours, including weekends, public holidays, and shift work.
Qualifications
Engineering Degree, Media Industry Technologist Certification (MITC), Diploma in Electrical or Communications Engineering or comparable qualification in the Broadcast or IT Industry.
