Job Expectations
An exciting opportunity has presented itself to join the Gold Coast services team as a Field Engineer working on the nbn network. The Field Services (FS) Team within Chief Operations Business Unit provides Field Workforce capabilities across all technologies for Service Activation, Service Assurance, Network Assurance, Network Maintenance, Customer Complaints linked with Network faults and Quality Inspection.
Responsibilities
* Represent the nbn Field Services team in all field-based assurance and build activities specifically related to the HFC network.
* Support HFC network integration, augmentation, and upgrades.
* Conduct field audits and ensure connect quality and Delivery Partner performance across services linked to the HFC infrastructure.
* Provide high-level field support, including scheduled after‐hours work and participation in an on‐call roster to respond to urgent HFC‐related escalations and service issues.
* Oversee assurance activities and execute network element upgrades within the HFC domain.
* Resolve escalations and provide in‐office technical support for network performance.
* Maintain deep understanding of HFC architecture, RF fundamentals, and operations.
Qualifications
* Strong technical background in maintaining and restoring HFC infrastructure with hands‐on experience in field‐based assurance and fault resolution.
* Deep understanding of HFC architecture and operations, including building/commissioning outside‐plant network equipment such as Nodes, Amps and passive devices.
* Knowledge of HFC network assurance protocols and familiarity with Ethernet, DWDM, and GPON.
* Proficiency with FTTX technologies such as FTTP is advantageous.
* Methodical problem‐solver with strong troubleshooting and escalation management skills.
* Quick learner adaptable to evolving technologies and field conditions.
* Flexible, resilient under pressure, and able to manage competing priorities.
* Highly organised team player with a constructive and proactive mindset.
Additional Requirements
* Full working rights in Australia.
* Permanent role; requires a Criminal History Check and a Pre‐Employment Medical Assessment to assess physical capability for the position.
