Join our Communications and Marketing Division as a Media and Communications Advisor and help shape the public voice of the Department.
The role As a Media and Communications Advisor, you’ll support the delivery of high-impact communications that inform, engage, and influence. From creating engaging content, to crafting compelling media releases, and managing media enquiries, this role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile issues that matter to the people of NSW.
What you’ll do:
* Create compelling content – draft media releases, talking points, FAQs, video and visual content, EDMs, web content, and presentation materials.
* Engage with the media – monitor the news cycle, unearth newsworthy stories, and support proactive and reactive media relations.
* Support strategic campaigns – contribute to the planning and execution of integrated external communications campaigns spanning announcements, PR, experiential events, activations, and stakeholder briefings.
* Collaborate with stakeholders – work with internal teams to align messaging, and ensure clear, effective communications.
* Track and measure impact – report on media coverage, campaign effectiveness, and audience engagement.

What you will bring to the role We’re looking for someone who:
* Has a strong understanding of the media landscape and can anticipate emerging issues.
* Is a confident and adaptable writer, able to craft clear and engaging content across multiple platforms.
* Thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing competing deadlines with ease.
* Brings creativity and fresh thinking to storytelling and strategic communications.
* Works collaboratively, building strong relationships with stakeholders to deliver effective communication outcomes.

What is an essential requirement:
* Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, or journalism, or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience.
