Chandler Macleod is seeking multiple safety officers to join our client’s team in Whyalla. As part of our clients Safety team, you will play a key role in identifying, establishing and implementing a safe working environment across our operation. This position requires a hands-on approach to achieving a culture of safety at all levels of the organization.
Roster 7 days on & 7 days off - Dayshift
Key responsibilities:
- Verification of critical incidents (CI’s) actions and learnings
- Supporting the critical risk and control verification process
- Frontline leader interaction/engagement, improving worker behaviours on non-compliance to risk mitigation controls etc.
- Identify and recommend best practice initiatives to reduce risk and improve safe work practices
- Implement and monitor compliance with safe systems of work
- Coach & develop all personnel working under the Company’s control to understand and comply with risk mitigation requirements
- Support frontline leaders with ICAM Investigation process
- Drive frontline leadership for improved & timely closeout of events and associated actions to mitigate reoccurrences
Qualifications:
- Relevant Health and Safety qualifications
- Experience in a similar role, preferably in a mining or heavy industry setting
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coach and mentor others
