Salary up to $85,916 per annum plus superannuation (Salary will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications).
Join our civil maintenance crew as a skilled, reliable Plant Operator. You'll be part of a crew of four, working together to build, repair and maintain essential infrastructure across the Local Government Area, all while representing Council out in the community. This role is designed with true work-life balance in mind, operating on a 9‐day fortnight with a regular rostered day off, giving you more time for life outside of work. The opportunity for occasional overtime may be offered as operationally needed.
What You Will Be Doing
* Operating excavators, backhoes, and other civil plant to deliver safe, high‐quality works
* Supporting civil maintenance tasks including trenching, drainage repairs, footpaths, roadwork prep, and site clean‐ups
* Taking on labouring duties such as shovelling, lifting, concreting and manual handling tasks
* Safely loading and unloading machinery and materials, including moving equipment on/off trailers
* Completing pre‐starts, basic maintenance checks and accurate job‐related documentation
* Working safely around overhead powerlines, traffic and the public

About You
You are a capable, safety‐minded operator who takes pride in your work. You enjoy being part of a close‐knit crew, but you're also confident working independently with minimal supervision. You bring a mid to high level of hands‐on experience. Not just holding the ticket but genuinely operating plant in real civil work environments.
On Day 1 You Bring
* Current Driver's Licence
* Excavator and Backhoe competency/tickets
* General Construction Induction - White Card
* Working Near Power Lines certification
* Strong understanding of WHS, including SWMS, toolbox talks and "Before You Dig" processes
* Proven experience in Civil plant operation (maintenance + construction)
* Labouring duties & the physical capability to perform the duties outlined in the Position Description
* Loading/unloading machinery
* Safe work practices
* A nice to have but not essential, if you bring additional experience operating other plant such as graders, skid steers, dozers or loaders, along with a current MR or HR licence. Industry‐recognised qualifications in Traffic Control and applying Traffic Control Plans (Yellow Card), please outline in your application.
