Simulation Project Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Simulation Project Manager to lead the delivery of advanced simulation and training solutions for defence and industry clients. This role is responsible for managing complex, multidisciplinary projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
You will work closely with engineering, software, hardware, and training stakeholders, as well as external partners and clients, to deliver cutting‑edge simulation systems that support operational readiness and capability development.
We're looking for a Simulation Project Manager who not only delivers complex projects, but also leads and develops people. This role involves guiding multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, setting clear direction, and creating an environment where individuals can perform at their best while delivering high‑quality simulation and training outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end delivery of simulation and training system projects
* Manage scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality across multiple workstreams
* Coordinate internal teams including software, hardware, systems engineering, and SMEs
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders
* Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and reporting artefacts
* Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies
* Ensure compliance with contractual, governance, and security requirements
* Support continuous improvement of project delivery processes
About You
You are a confident and structured project manager with experience delivering technically complex projects in simulation, defence, or related environments. You are comfortable working with diverse stakeholders and translating technical detail into clear project outcomes.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven leader of people
* Experience as a Project Manager delivering complex technical projects
* Background in simulation, defence, training systems, or related technology environments
* Strong understanding of project management methodologies (PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile, or similar)
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* Experience managing subcontractors and external partners
* Ability to work in fast‑paced, evolving project environments
* Must reside in Australia, preferably Newcastle or Canberra
* Must be an Australian or have Australia Citizenship
* Must have an Australian Security Clearance
Desirable
* Defence industry experience and familiarity with Defence project governance
* Experience delivering software or simulation‑based training systems
* Exposure to software and hardware integration projects
* Relevant certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile)
