The Tool Design Engineer will be responsible for undertaking a range of tasks in support of tooling used in the manufacture of aircraft components and assemblies. The incumbent will undertake the investigation and resolution of tooling issues including new & modified tooling designs, tooling dispositions, preparation of tooling use instructions, and the provision of technical support to Tooling Quality Assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigation and timely resolution of tooling issues / problems encountered during productio

Assessment and disposition of Tool Non-Conformance issue- s
Development and preparation of tooling designs and drawings for both new and modified production toolin- g
Maintaining tool configuration control through the effective use of the BAA TRACS database syste- m
Provision of technical support to Tool Quality Assurance including analysis and verification of data produced by co-ordinate measuring machine- s
Liaison with internal and external suppliers to achieve timely and cost-effective tool modification / manufactur- e
Ensuring that tooling designs prepared comply with government and state legislation and regulations as they relate to OH&S requirement- s
Ensuring the delivery of all work assignments are completed in an effective and efficient manne- r
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalen

Experience using CATIA V5 software favorabl- e
Good written and oral communication skill- s
Demonstrated skills in problem solvin- g
Exposure to Quality Assurance processes and procedure- s
Understanding of OH&S implications within the fiel- d
Familiar with use of email, databases, Internet and Microsoft Windows & Office suite of Tool- s

This is an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement position and classified as an Engineer 1A.
