Overview
Control Risks is seeking Associate Consultants to join our expanding Crisis and Security Consulting practice in Australia. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years’ experience in security design engineering or electronics and communications engineering and demonstrate a strong interest in advancing within the security design engineering sector.
Role tasks & responsibilities
- Participate in weekly meetings with project stakeholders, maintaining meticulous attention to detail and accurately recording all actions pertinent to the discipline.
- Execute security design consultancy assignments of limited scope, ensuring adherence to established standards.
- Collaborate closely with senior members of the design team to prepare design stage documentation, including technical specifications, power load calculations, and tender evaluation reports.
- Remain informed of advancements in security technology and incorporate relevant developments into project work.
- Work in close coordination with the senior design team to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Accompany senior design team members during onsite inspections, as well as testing and commissioning activities.
Knowledge & Experience
- Possess a minimum of two (2) years’ skilled experience in security or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting floor plans and schematics, and in utilizing CAD 2D software to produce design layouts that adhere to internal standards.
- Exhibit a sound understanding of design engineering principles and practices.
- Display comprehensive knowledge of all project design stages, including those defined by RIBA, such as Conceptual Design, Developed Design, and Technical Design.
- Possess foundational expertise in the design and implementation of integrated electronic security systems and physical security measures, including but not limited to:
- Video surveillance systems
- Access control systems
- Intruder detection systems
- Intercommunications systems
- Security fences, gates, barriers, locking systems, and secure rooms
Qualifications & Specialist Skills
- A degree in electronics and electrical engineering or communications is preferred.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present effectively to senior stakeholders and board-level audiences.
- Exhibits proficiency in the use of project management tools, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
