The Role This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive, well-established mixed farming enterprise spanning 4,700 hectares near Goulburn. You will be an integral part of a dedicated four-person team, working closely with the manager and two other staff members. The property boasts excellent infrastructure, including newly completed cattle yards, a good woolshed, and an extensive network of laneways that significantly boost efficiency for stock movement. This role offers the chance to gain comprehensive experience across both premium livestock production and modern pasture management. The operation focuses on a high-performance, self-replacing Angus cow herd of 1,900 head, which produces both pure Angus calves and steers sold at 12 months to feedlots. Additionally, the property runs approximately 7,500 Merino sheep for fine wool production, with a portion of the ewes joined to terminal sires. Day-to-day work involves hands-on livestock management, including mustering and handling, efficiently completed using buggies and well-trained working dogs. You will be active in all aspects of the breeding and production cycles for both cattle and sheep. A key component of this role involves participation in the farm's commitment to continuous improvement through an annual pasture renovation program covering over 400 hectares. This systematic effort involves soil testing, reseeding with high-quality forage varieties, and implementing effective, modern grazing management practices. As the station hand, you will be actively involved in supporting this crucial farm development, alongside general maintenance and daily operational tasks. The property is conveniently located 20 km southwest of Goulburn, NSW, a great location, as it is relatively close to the coast and not far from ski fields. Goulburn offers a range of amenities, including a hospital, various school options, and major supermarkets.
