Overview
The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW, serving a culturally diverse community. The Manager of Children's Services leads a portfolio of services for children and families, driving strategic direction, innovation, and performance. This senior leadership role shapes service excellence, champions continuous improvement, and ensures programs meet community needs, regulatory standards, and Council priorities.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership and direction for Children's Services, aligning operations with Council priorities and community needs.
* Deliver high‐quality, compliant, and financially sustainable services across a diverse portfolio.
* Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams, driving workforce capability, performance, collaboration, and a culture of accountability.
* Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements while championing continuous improvement and service excellence.
* Manage complex operational matters, including serious incidents, complaints, regulatory liaison, budgets, and resource planning.
* Build strong partnerships with families, community organisations, and key stakeholders and represent Council in external forums.
* Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and evidence‐based decision‐making, fostering a positive organisational culture that delivers responsive, high‐quality outcomes.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Social Services or equivalent discipline.
* Extensive experience managing multidisciplinary teams and multiple service types.
* Robust financial management experience.
* Demonstrated capability in service delivery, compliance, and broad functional knowledge across multiple services.
* Advanced leadership, analytical, and strategic capabilities.
* Experience in strategic workforce and service planning.
Remuneration & Benefits
* Salary range: $142,934 to $214,460 plus vehicle allowance and 12% super.
* 5 weeks annual leave.
* Permanent full‐time position with local government conditions: long service leave after five years, annual salary increases, and generous parental leave options.
