About us:
Mabunji Aboriginal Resource Indigenous Corporation ("Mabunji") began its life as a resource centre in 1983, with its core purpose to support the Aboriginal people and homelands of the Borroloola region of Northern Territory. Malandari Flexible Aged Care is a place where old people live and are looked after. It is located at the edge of town, only a few hundred metres from the convenience store and service station.
We are currently seeking permanent Aged Care Worker to support our Malandari Flexible Aged Care based in a very remote location, Borroloola in Northern Territory.
Position Objective
The Aged Care Worker is responsible for the delivery of care and services to Malandari Aged Care clients in all areas of activities of daily living in accordance with the clients identified needs and preferences.
Aged Care Workers provide a range of support to meet client's physical, spiritual, social and cultural needs, enabling them to maintain optimal wellbeing and independence.
About the Role:
As a part of our team, you will enable our clients to live their best possible life by helping with everyday activities and assisting them to do the things they love. Every client is different, and tasks may include:
* Accompany aged and disabled clients during daily activities
* Undertake laundry and perform environmental cleaning duties
* Keep the kitchen stocked with an adequate supply of food and fluids
* Prepare and deliver meals to clients
* Assist clients with their mobility, shopping, banking etc
* Arrange social activities
* Provide companionship, friendship, emotional support, social and cultural support to clients
* Assist client to maintain personal hygiene and dressing
* Monitor client vitals, pain levels
* Facilitate attendance at GP or specialist clinics
* Respond to environmental and medical emergencies
Requirements:
* Current 'C' class Driver's Licence manual is desirable but not essential
* Previous experience in a similar role and Certificate IV (or higher) in Aged Care & Disability
* Police Check essential & working with vulnerable people
* Flexible to work weekdays, weekends, evening shifts and sleepover
* Demonstrate interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
* A knowledge of Aboriginal culture and the issues affecting Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory
* To understand and demonstrate the importance of accurate documentation and confidentiality of client's details
