SAW is the leading Medium density Townhouse Builder in its space.

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on HR Manager to lead HR and Technical OH&S compliance. This is a part‑time role (25 hours per week, negotiable) based in Notting Hill office and reporting to the Director.

You will be the first point of contact for all HR and support a very capable OH&S team with technical compliance and will design and deliver HR strategies that build a safe, accountable and high‑performing culture.


About the role

Lead HR & OH&S technical compliance function for the group, working autonomously to provide practical HR leadership.


Key responsibilities

* HR strategy & systems: Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives, frameworks and metrics that drive performance and accountability.
* Recruitment & onboarding: Lead end‑to‑end recruitment (ads, screening, background checks, hiring) and design/implement effective onboarding plans.
* Performance management: Manage probation processes and performance reviews, develop and monitor KPIs, assist with performance improvement processes and escalation where required.
* Employee relations & retention: Act as central point for salary increase notifications, manage disciplinary/grievance matters, and design retention and development programs.
* Position descriptions & PD management: Create and update staff position descriptions and ensure staff records are maintained in line with policy and law.
* Training & development: Monitor training programs and manage professional development initiatives.
* Leave & compliance: Ensure evidence requirements for leave requests are met, ensure compliance with employment law and organisational policies and maintain strict discretion.
* OH&S: Ensure OH&S technical compliance across the business and continuous safety improvement.


Requirements

* Qualifications : Tertiary qualification in Human Resources (or equivalent).
* Experience : 10+ years' HR experience as a generalist including proven OH&S capability; experience in construction or a similar labour intensive industry is preferred.
* Skills & attributes :
o People‑first approach : A passion for people and the confidence to influence, challenge and engage managers and staff.
o Problem‑solver : Pragmatic, results‑driven and strong at resolving complex people issues.
o Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication, adaptable to different audiences.
o Systems skills : Familiarity with HR information systems (experience with Employment Hero is desirable).
o Practical & autonomous : Comfortable managing all aspects of HR/OH&S independently for a 40+ person workforce.
o Driver & mobility : Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to travel to sites at short notice if required.
