Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Mechanical Service Assistant to join our busy mechanical workshop. In this role, working with the Operations Manager to coordinate service work, and ensuring a smooth and professional experience from drop-off to pick-up. A solid understanding of mechanical systems, excellent communication skills, and a passion for customer service are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Welcome customers and clearly identify mechanical concerns through conversation and/or inspection.
Assist the manager to provide accurate repair estimates and obtain approval for work before proceeding.
Assist to the manager to Schedule services and jobs efficiently to maximize workshop productivity.
Liaise with technicians to ensure correct diagnosis and timely completion of work.
Keep customers informed on job progress, unexpected issues, or changes to cost/time.
Explain repairs and services performed in a way that builds trust and understanding.
Process invoices and payments accurately; handle warranty or insurance-related claims when applicable.
Maintain accurate service records and job notes in workshop management software.
Support workshop cleanliness, safety, and customer satisfaction goals.
Assist with Marketing
Reconcile suppliers accounts
Assist with OHS workshop compliance
Required Qualifications:
Previous experience in an automotive service advisor role (aftermarket workshop experience preferred).
Solid understanding of mechanical repairs and vehicle systems (light vehicles, 4WD, etc.).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with workshop management systems
Honest, reliable, and committed to delivering a great customer experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
Trade background or mechanical knowledge (even if not a qualified mechanic).
Knowledge of common aftermarket products and services
Familiarity with quoting software and spare parts sourcing platforms.
Valid driver’s license.
Work Conditions:
Workshop/office-based role with customer interaction.
Occasional walking through workshop areas; safety gear may be required.
Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays depending on business needs.
