Our medical administrative assistant will collaborate with the practice manager, other administrative staff, and nursing team to assist the surgeon with various administrative tasks. Strong teamwork and the ability to work effectively within a small group are essential for this position.
A bit about us
Our practice is led by a single specialist plastic surgeon with expertise in skin cancer, paediatric and reconstructive plastic surgery. Located at the Poche Centre on the Mater Hospital campus in North Sydney, we provide personalised care to a diverse range of patients.
Key responsibilities
· Greet and welcome patients on arrival to the practice
· Manage patient appointments and records efficiently
· Process surgical bookings
· Manage patient records, correspondence, and accounts efficiently using Genie practice management software
· Efficiently manage patient results by email, fax, and HealthLink.
· Coordination of specialised medical imaging and pathology test appointments for patients as directed by the surgeon
· Facilitating payment processing using EFTPOS terminals and managing electronic claims through Eclipse
· Collaborate effectively with the existing administrative and nursing staff to provide comprehensive support within the practice.
The ideal candidate must have the following attributes
· Must have a minimum of 2 years secretarial experience in a medical/surgical practice
· Professional, approachable and compassionate manner towards others
· Excellent people skills with a strong focus on professional communication
· Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to providing patient care whilst always maintaining confidentiality
· Flexibility in work hours and emergency cover as needed
· Demonstrated ability to problem solve and to work with minimal supervision
· Ability to prioritise workflow effectively
· Experience using patient management software (Genie preferred)
· Good understanding of medical terminology
· Completion of grade 12 or equivalent
Desirable experience
· Knowledge and experience working in a surgical practice
· Previous experience in a private billing practice
